GREEN MAN: An ancient entity, the Green Man is the symbol of Life, Creativity, and Renewal. He is a spirit of nature, ushering in each spring the reawakened hills and countryside. Although it is believed his image was important before the Roman Empire, some of the earliest examples of Green Man can be found on Roman Temples. He was then adopted by medieval Christianity and decorates many churches and cathedrals throughout Europe. This Green Man is hand carved by Artist, Craig Knox from the pine knot of Jeffery Pine. The wood is found at high altitude (7000 feet). It is dense and durable, coming from a tree fallen and decayed decades ago. He is sealed with Danish Wood Oil and is to be hung in the home to remind you of the cycle of Life and the mystery of Nature.

Artist Comment: This Green Man is about the happiest herald of spring and summer I have carved.
